The full terms and conditions for Cakes by Kels Cakes are detailed below. By paying a deposit, you’re accepting these terms and understand that they will apply to your order.

QUOTES

Cake prices depend on size, design, craftsmanship, flavour and sometimes packaging. For an accurate quote please contact us with the following information:

  • The date of collection
  • How many guests you are aiming to feed or a budget you’d like to stick to.
  • The flavour(s) you would like
  • The message for your cake/ cake board
  • A picture of something similar, colour match or design inspiration.

Please check the wording of your order to ensure the correct information has been given. All cakes are priced on your exact design and size of your cake. Price matching with other companies/quotes is not available. Following your enquiry or consultation, you will receive an invoice within 48hours. The invoice will be valid for 24hours after which it will be cancelled. The slot will then become available to other customers.

NOTICE

It is recommended to book your cake at least 1 month in advance. Securing your booking is the best way to avoid disappointment. Last minute orders may be facilitated depending on the weekly schedule. An additional fee will be added to the cake quote if accepted.

DEPOSITS

Once you have been quoted, to book and secure your order, a full payment is required. 50% of your overall balance will act as a non-refundable deposit. No cake will be baked until the balance is paid in full. Payments can be paid via Bank Transfer, PayPal or Cash. Once received, you will receive confirmation by email, or text if preferred.

For wedding cakes the full balance must be paid 1 month prior to the wedding day.

CANCELLATIONS

ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.  YOUR DEPOSIT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED IF THE CAKE IS CANCELLED. IF YOUR CAKE HAS BEEN PREPARED OR BAKED YOU ARE UNABLE TO RECEIVE A REFUND.

I reserve the right to cancel your booking in unforeseeable circumstances which fall beyond my control, (E.g. Fire, Ill Health, Isolation due to Covid or Bereavement) during which I will refund all monies taken. For Covid -19 terms please visit my Instagram.

COLLECTION AND DELIVERY

Upon ordering, collections will be arranged for a convenient time for both parties. During the weekend collections are from 9am- 1pm. Collections can be made from Custom House E16 3EF, within the time slot given. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can affect the time you arrive to collect your cake, please call to inform us of this as soon as possible. Lateness and failure to collect your cake is YOUR responsibility and in some cases, your cake may need to be collected in a cab, at a later time or the following day.

There is currently no option for delivery of buttercream or celebration cakes.

Wedding cakes and cakes which require stacking at the venue will be delivered. Delivery is charged on a mileage + time basis.
We cannot be held liable for any delays, such as traffic conditions that are out of our control. In the event of late delivery, the maximum compensation will be a refund on the delivery price.

TRANSPORTING YOUR CAKE

As cakes are very delicate and fragile, it is highly recommended if transporting by car, that the cake is placed on the floor or in the boot, to prevent the cake sliding off its board.

NEVER put a cake on a seat. If you have no space for either option then the cake can be placed on the passenger’s lap, however, they must remember to keep their legs as straight and even as possible. The driver must slow down, increase stopping distances and avoid harsh turns and breaking. Going over speed bumps must also be very slow.

ALLERGIES AND SPECIAL DIETS

Please be aware that your cake may not include Gluten/Egg/Nuts/Alcohol etc., but they are still used on the premises in which your cake is prepared. Cakes may still contain traces of such ingredients.

Dietary requirements can be catered for upon request. Please state the necessary requirement when placing your order.

STORAGE

Cakes DO NOT need to be refrigerated unless covered in buttercream. This will accelerate the staling of the flour and effect the icing condition. Store in a dry cool room in the cake box if uncut. If cut place in an airtight container and eat within the time frame on the Expiry sticker. Cakes can be frozen and kept up to 3 months.

DAMAGES

Please remember cakes and their decorations are very delicate and fragile. I cannot accept any responsibility for any damage that is done after it has left our possession. If any repair is required, you can request a repair, which will be priced accordingly, including travel costs if needed.

NON-EDIBLE ITEMS

Most cakes include and contain small inedible items which are noted on your cake information sticker. It is your responsibility to remove them prior to cutting and serving your cake.

These items include support dowels, ribbons, diamante mesh bands, wires, flower picks and flower tape plus more. You will be informed of each inedible item on your cake upon delivery/collection and they will be noted on your Cake Information Sticker.

COVID-19 UPDATE / NOVEMBER UPDATE

The UK government has announced yet more lockdown measures for the foreseeable future. As a food business, we already maintain strict hygiene procedures in production. However, since March, I’ve introduced even more rigorous procedures which complement our 5-star Hygiene Rating. This includes additional handwashing, constant surface cleaning, online payments only and social distancing on collection.

It’s worth pointing out that COVID can’t be passed on from food BUT I take extra precautions regardless to protect myself and more importantly YOU.

I’d like to use this opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ for supporting my small business by choosing me to make your cakes. I understand that due to the changeable government guidelines pre-planning has become difficult.

If you are wanting to place an order with me, please take note of the guidelines below:

  1. As of March 2020, I require full payment to place an order. 50% of this payment will act as a non-refundable deposit.
  2. If your order is cancelled with above 7days notice, you will receive a partial refund (50%)
  3. If you cancel your order with under 7 days notice or your cake has been prepared or baked, you will not receive a refund. Your cake will be prepared as planned.
  4. If you choose to cancel an order outside of 7days due to Covid-19 restrictions your deposit will remain in the company until you are able to secure another slot by paying the remaining balance.
  5. If I am affected by Covid-19 and have to cancel your cake. You will receive a full refund including deposit.

Where possible I will work with each and every one of you to ensure you are able to celebrate your special occasions.
